AquaOrganica Founder
AquaOrganica was founded 9 years ago in Rome, Italy by Marco Pistrin. In 2009, Marco got his Masters degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries at Wageningen University. After working for several hatcheries all over the world for a few years, Marco realised he wanted to impact the Aquaculture sector in a bigger way and thus started AquaOrganica.
AquaOrganica is focussed on helping hatcheries all over the world become better, more efficient and have a higher return on investment. We do this by offering professional and honest advice about equipment, feed, ova and hatchery construction in general. Our founder, Marco Pistrin, combines a strong academic foundation with decades of hands-on experience across the global aquaculture industry.
He holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia and an MSc in Aquaculture Engineering from Wageningen University—a rare academic pairing that bridges biological insight with engineering precision.
This foundation was shaped by years of practical work across the full spectrum of production systems and species—from Canadian salmon farms and RAS facilities to Mediterranean trout, sea bass, and bream operations, as well as fisheries management and enhancement programs for salmonids and sturgeon.
This broad perspective provides a holistic understanding of both technical and operational realities across the entire value chain:

- Facility design and engineering consultancy
